the America's Cup through 60 models from 1851 to 2007

We have gathered for you in the following pages the 60 models
from Olivier de Kersauson's superb collection.
Below is a short introductory video

This collection brings together models of the sailboats that competed in the America's Cup from the first to the thirty-second edition, from 1851 to 2007.
This collection offers a unique glimpse into the history of the oldest international sailing competition still contested, featuring faithful and meticulously crafted replicas of each of the iconic sailboats that have competed from 1851 to the present day. It embodies maritime ingenuity, naval elegance, and the technological evolution of large racing sailboats.
It is exceptional due to:
• The size of the models, most of which are 1/10 scale, with a few down to 1/15 scale due to their exceptional nature.
• The rigging of some exceeds 4 meters.
• The fact that they were crafted over 15 years by the same model-making specialist.
• The care and quality of the execution and the perfect reproduction of the original. Its comprehensiveness, with a defender and a challenger for each edition.
Olivier de Kersauson, who assembled this collection, recounts:
“ I’ve always struggled to understand hull shapes from plans, and I wanted to analyze the evolution of sailboat hulls over time. The America’s Cup was the only place where the most advanced hull studies were conducted, with the resources and ambitions for a challenge that had become global. It was the best in the field. I met a craftman who offered me to make a model of each of the defenders and challengers of the America's Cup since its inception in 1850. Over the years, across thirty editions of the Cup, he crafted these superb models himself, totaling 60. The collection continued until 2007, when the Cup switched to multihulls. Part of the collection, the winners, was exhibited in Valencia in 2007 during the Cup regattas..

Olivier recently agreed to part with this fabulous collection, demonstrating his desire to see this exceptional heritage preserved and showcased. In keeping with the spirit of transmission that drives this endeavor, we would like to find a buyer for this collection, with the aim of preserving it, enhancing its value, and perhaps exhibiting it in a setting befitting its prestige.
