The winner

For this 27th edition, the New Zealanders launched a challenge, seeking to strictly return to the original Deed of Gift and proposed racing with a 90-foot monohull (the maximum allowed). The challenge was declared valid, and in response, the Americans built a catamaran. With two wins to zero, Stars & Stripes won by a wide margin.

The looser

The crew of the gigantic New Zealand monohull is 40 strong. Beaten soundly in both races, they challenged the Americans' victory in court but lost, and the cup remained American.
