The winner
Vigilant is built of steel. It is larger than its challenger.
The looser
1893 saw the arrival of the Royal Yacht Squadron with Lord Dunraven in the game. The format was expanded to five races instead of two.
Valkyrie II was the precursor to the J-class yachts that would appear 40 years later. The margins were small at each mark rounding,
but Vigilant still emerged victorious. Valkyrie was unfortunately sunk shortly after its return to England during a regatta on the River Clyde.
